The Whitney SL is a important day for Travel racers as it is the part of the PARA Central qualifier series that advance racers towards the State Championship called the Derbies. This is our largest race and we expect a field of about 190+ racers, yep! more than last year. It might be a long day...at least 2pm, maybe as long as 4pm, on the hill. Awards one hour after we get off hill.

Bib help - stuffing bibs and papers into an envelope. Assist with transporting stuff from comp center to lodge, by ski, foot, car...
On Saturday, Feb 2 various shifts...1) Registration - check in registrants, hand out bibs, collect signed waivers, provide directions, prepare scoreboard....copying names/age classes from a list to a large poster board and 2) Gatekeepers - on course, gatekeeping SL experience recommended, 3) Hand timer and recorder at start and finish - operate stop watch, write times on a sheet at the top of course and at the bottom of course....instructed and supervised by licensed ref 5) Bib collector - mee tor chase racers at exit on 2nd run, collect bib, return envelope w/$20, 6) Scoreboard - record times from a monitor and announcements onto the scoreboard, work as a team of 2 or 3 - 7) Announcer - indoor job on the microphone, reading names and times from a monitor 8) Start Assistant - organize racers according to a list, big voice needed!, Starter - countdown racers, follow instructions/commands from timing and start ref. 9) Hospitality volunteers - purchase light breakfast and lunch supplies, set up and cleanup breakfast, purchase 3ft subs from Subway (recommended but other source ok) plus other misc stuff...expenses are reimbursable, shopping list provided, 10) Comp Ctr Support, assist w/relay of supplies from tubing lodge at 8:30am,.tidy up messes as needed, refill water, empty trash, drop by about once an hour to monitor, final cleanup at race end, do not need to attend all the time.
